My Story

From Survival to Gratitude

I hated my mother. I don't anymore.

For a long time, hate was easier than understanding. I grew up in an unstable home, surrounded by dysfunctional family dynamics, poverty, hunger and an environment that left me living in survival mode for years. There was mental health struggle. There was anger. There was rage. There was resentment.
What if gratitude isn’t about pretending the past was good? What if it could become a way of seeing your life differently, without denying the pain?
My body and mind seemed to be permanently on alert. I experienced panic attacks and, for years, sleep paralysis. I lived with an intensity of anger and pain that became part of who I believed I was.
I didn’t know how to get out of it. I only knew that I didn’t want to keep living like that.
Then something changed.
My healing didn’t begin with pretending everything was okay. It didn’t begin with forgiveness. It didn’t begin with religion. It began with gratitude.
One evening, after years of resistance and feeling miserable, I started practising gratitude. At first, it wasn’t about finding something enormous to be grateful for. It was about noticing something — anything — that I could appreciate. And I kept going.
Slowly, something began to change. The pain didn’t feel quite as heavy. My relationship with my own life began to shift. Over time, I noticed changes in my experience of sleep paralysis too.
I cannot tell you that gratitude medically cured anything. I am not a medical professional, and my experience is my experience. But I can tell you what happened to me. Gratitude gave me a different way of looking at my life. And that changed me.

THE DOORWAY

Gratitude isn't about pretending the past was good.

This is one of the biggest things I have learned.
You can be grateful and still acknowledge that something hurt you. You can love parts of your life and still be angry about other parts. You can understand where someone came from without excusing what they did. You can acknowledge your family history without allowing it to become your destiny. And you can choose not to carry something forward.
For me, gratitude became a doorway.
A doorway out of constant resistance.
A doorway out of living entirely from what had happened to me.
A doorway toward choice.

What I understand now

I understand that many of us carry patterns we didn’t consciously choose.
Beliefs. Behaviours. Fears.
Ways of communicating. Ways of loving. Ways of protecting ourselves.
Ideas about money, safety, relationships, worth and what we believe we deserve. Some of these patterns may have helped us survive. But something that helped us survive once doesn't necessarily need to control the rest of our lives.
That is where my work begins.
I help people who have spent years living in survival mode understand the patterns they inherited, reconnect with gratitude, and begin choosing what they want to carry forward — and what they are ready to leave behind.

You don't have to repeat what was passed down to you.

I don’t believe breaking a generational cycle means rejecting where you came from. It means becoming conscious of what you are carrying. It means asking:
→Is this actually mine?
→Does this still serve me?
→Do I want to carry this into the next generation?
✦And perhaps most importantly:

What do I choose instead?

My work is about creating space for those questions.
Through gratitude, reflection and conscious choice, we can begin to relate differently to our past and to ourselves. Not by erasing what happened. Not by pretending it didn’t hurt. But by deciding that it doesn’t have to write the rest of the story.

The Journey

From survival to choice.

That is the journey I know. I know what it is like to feel trapped inside anger. I know what it is like to carry pain that feels bigger than you. And I know what it feels like to discover that you can begin to put some of that weight down.
I changed my relationship with it.

And that is what I want to help You to discover too: You may not be responsible for what was passed down to you. But you can decide what you carry forward. And you can choose what ends with you.

I believe healing is not about becoming someone else — it’s about reconnecting with the person you have always been beneath the conditioning, fear, and expectations. When we create safety within ourselves, we begin to live with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.
My mission is to empower others to break unhelpful patterns, cultivate self-love, and build lives that are aligned with their values, wellbeing, and authentic selves.
